Garden Progress

A couple months ago we finally got our garden started and it has really blossomed! Of course we have had to ward off the pests and rodents but each season we get better at it :) We even enlisted the boys by offering a dollar reward if they find success in trapping a gopher. To my surprise they're pretty good at it- their protective instincts are kicking in to keep our food safe!

This time around we planted corn, watermelon, cantaloupe, a variety of tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, yellow squash, cucumbers and baby pumpkins since I didn't have any success last year. And I'm pretty excited about the tomatillo plants that were gifted to us!

It's always so fun to watch the growth each day (literally the squash doubles in size each day!) and learn the whole process of these foods as each develops in it's own unique way. We learn so much trying to find out when it's ready to harvest or what that mystery thing is on the plant!

I'm always amazed at God's intellect that shines through His creation when these seeds develop into beautiful and life giving food! The farm to table experience is my favorite and I feel so blessed to do life this way!
